FAQ
-
What types of photography do I offer?
The most simple way to respond to this is small group or individual. I like to provide intimate, high touch service experiences and my favorite people to photograph are over the age of 65. That being said I have experience in many areas of photography so just ask!
-
Where will my shoot take place?
Except for private property I am happy to photograph almost any where. I have a lot of experience in the studio but I have also photographed many people in their homes.
-
How far in advance should I schedule my photoshoot??
The answer here depends on the type of photoshoot and if you are a returning client. I absolutely believe that preparing for a photoshoot makes a better photoshoot especially recommend this to all new clients. From there it make take some time to get permits/props etc lined up for a photoshoot. Then depending on the product it can take anywhere from 2-12 weeks for delivery.
-
How long will my shoot be?
It depends on what type of session you want and how long you want it to be. While I have photographed someone in 5 minutes I do recommend at least 30 minutes for your first time as it can take a minute to relax in front of the camera. Headshots are generally about 30-60 minutes and full sessions can last up to 3 hours… but it just depends on what you want to do.
-
Will we plan the photoshoot together?
Yes. It can be as simple as you want or as big as you want. While I love simplicity I have also brought in hair and make up, props, special sets and more. And don’t worry about knowing what to do, I will walk you through everything.
-
What is your retouching philosphy?
My philosophy starts in camera. I try to light and pose you to fit your needs the best I can. I am happy to take your photoshop requests but generally prefer to perhaps minimize the extent of a feature if needed… an example might be removing the shadow under a wrinkle but not the wrinkle.
-
Do you offer color and black and white photos?
I offer both and am happy to consider your preference. I tend to lean towards black and white in more lifestyle photos.
-
Can I request certain editing techniques?
I am happy to have a discussion with you about editing preferences. Please note extensive editing requests may require additional fees.
-
Can I print the photos myself?
The artistic process does not end after taking the picture or even editing. I work to match the color tone with the printer and help select the materials as part of the artistic process. I do recognize the importance of digitals and every purchase includes a digital jpg that can print up to a 5×7.
-
Can I post the photos on social media?
Yes! Please do! Please note that unless specifically requested photos purchased have a personal use license and are not allowed to be reproduced for sale/commerce unless arrangements are made
-
Will you be posting photos online?
I love posting photos online and sharing your stories… but I want you to be cool with it. Please know that I never want to post a bad picture of you. I think some clients worry that if there is a ‘bad’ photo in the session the world will see it. No, they don’t need to see any photo you don’t want them to. But if I do say so myself… some of the out take photos are pretty fun (wink, wink).
-
Can I bring a friend to the photoshoot?
Yes, please do. I don’t have anything to hide and our first goal is that you feel safe and comfortable. Please just do us this one favor though- bring the cheerleader friend, okay? To borrow a phrase from my photographer friend I have a ‘no smack talking policy’- and that goes for guests too.
-
What happens if there is bad weather?
Sometimes weather can make the adventure. My basic take here is I will keep in touch with you and we can reschedule if needed based on the weather and your particular photoshoot needs.
-
What happens if I need to reschedule?
My general rescheduling policy is that you need to reschedule 48 hours in advance or risk forfeiting retainers and other fees. This may change depending on the location or other dependencies for your session. I will do everything we can to accommodate you should an emergency arise but please note that will be up to my discretion.
-
Will hair and make up services be provided for my shoot?
I can help point you in the direction of some amazing local hair and make up artists.
-
How much does a photoshoot cost?
Headshots start at $150 and have an average spend of $375. Regular photo sessions start at $200 and have an average spend of $1800.
-
